There are two types of forward parking — angle parking and perpendicular parking. Both types involve forward parking. It could seem to be the easiest type of parking. Could there be any troubles? But new drivers do have troubles. Some unexperienced drivers cannot forward park. They just sit there blinking and ask for help. There is one good tip. If you know it, there is really no trouble. So what’s the tip? Let’s see.First of all, don’t rush and don’t turn your steering wheel. Move straight ahead until you go past the other car. When your car is parallel to the other cars, straighten the wheels. It’s simple. How many revolutions did you make when turning? Steer the same number of revolutions to the other side. This way you set your wheels straight. A common mistake among new drivers is failing to set the steering wheels straight. They don’t see that the wheel is not in a completely straight position. So the car gets too close to the neighbouring vehicle. One more time, move into the parking space really slowly. Like when a plane has landed and is going to the terminal really, really slowly. At the same time, you need to steer fast to get to the middle of the parking space.
Perpendicular parking. The reference point is the same — the side of the neighbouring car. The important thing here is to move far away from your row. As far away as you possibly can. The further the better. This way you’ll park the car neatly. So, your reference point is the side of the neighbouring car, the same as in the first case. If you cannot move away from the row, you can end up like this.
Don’t panic. Just turn your steering wheel from one side to the other and move just one or two feet back. Then your hands will do the job. Watch the front left of the car and remember to watch the right side of your car in the mirror. You have to leave a gap. And don’t forget to straighten the wheels. Your steering wheel should be in a straight position right before you stop. By the way, straightening the wheels help you allow for that gap.
